Carlsbad New Mexico, Labor Day 2008

No pictures for this one, we just didn't take any. Labor Day happened to fall on a four day weekend for us this year so we loaded up the dogs, a weekend worth of clothes and jumped in the Ridgeline and headed to my Mom and Dad's house for the weekend. Rather than getting up early on Friday morning and heading out we just took off after Erica's class Thursday night. We grabbed some Carl's Junior on the way out of town along with some junk food and restroom breaks in Lordsburg, NM and El Paso, TX and found ourselves in bed at my Mom and Dad's at about 3:30 AZ time, 4:30 local time.

Erica and I slept in the first day and then Erica, myself and my dad made our way to Happy's to meet my mom on here lunch break for some giant home made burgers and fries. For the most part, Friday was filled with sitting around relaxing and eating… WAY too much. Saturday we went to eat at a little place called Callahan's for lunch, it marked the first time I or Erica had ever laid eyes on a pancake the size of a medium pizza, no joke!!! We played some UNO and messed with dad's work computer, some navigation software throughout the day as well as taking the dogs for a nice relaxing walk. Saturday night we enjoyed dinner at the Steven's, which was quite good. Sunday was a fantastic day as well, we had marinated some steaks for two full days and then I grilled them up over my parents little charcoal grill while Erica made some delicious shrimp scampi and boiled corn on the cob. Prior to that Erica and I ran the dogs around with no leashes for a while, including Turbo… he actually did pretty well all things considered. We brushed and trimmed (read butchered for the most part here)Cody as well. Erica my mom and I filled the day with more UNO and Rumikub play while my dad and I mixed in firing up the old Challenger. Finally, we went to the drive in movie theater and watched Journey to the Center of the Earth, which definitely wasn't the best movie any of us had ever seen… but I personally enjoyed it.

All in all it was just a fantastic weekend, Erica and I stopped by Young Park in Las Cruces on the way home and enjoyed some Si Senor and a nice relaxing walk around the park with the dogs. It really caped off a great trip. Too bad we didn't snap any pictures as it was a beautiful cloudy weekend filled with rain and cool days.
